How Home Staging Works to Sell Your Overland Park Home Faster and For More Money

As a Realtor and Accredited Home Staging Stylist, it’s my goal to provide my home sellers a plan to make smart and easy decisions about selling their homes. One question they always ask me is, “Does home staging really work to sell a home faster and for more money?”

The first step of home staging

My entire concept is based on the theory that yes, your home will sell faster and for the most money possible IF you prepare your home for sale. Preparation is the key to everything in life. However, I find most people don’t ever prepare for anything – unless maybe it’s a long vacation. And that’s the hardest part of my job…getting the house ready so it sells quickly. The preparation is the first step of the home staging process.

I’ve dealt with many circumstances over the years…from the worst houses to some of the best that I haven’t had to do a thing to. Regardless, when a seller hires me, I’m always more than happy to help them if they can get their head around what it is that I do and how and why it works.

When sellers say yes – work your magic!

Last year I had some sellers hire me only to find out after the fact that her sister sold real estate. That was one of the hardest projects I ever took on but it also brought me the most joy. She said her sister never would have done what I did to get their home, not only ready for the market, but also sold, with multiple offers, for asking price the third day on the market. We even raised the price by $10,000 because the house looked so stinking good at the end of the project.

Abraham Lincoln said, “Give me six hours to chop down a tree and I will spend the first four sharpening the axe.” I think like Abe. I like to prepare as well. “Give me a weekend to sell your house and I will spend the week prior getting it ready for the market.”
