Overland Park Home Staging and Merchandising
If your house is for sale in Overland Park and you haven’t yet put your Christmas decorations away, don’t delay. Your home staging or lack of home staging is costing you money! You have a product to sell and you need to merchandise it accordingly. Home staging and merchandising go together like peanut butter and jelly. Your house is no different than a product on the shelf at your favorite big box store.
My Overland Park Costco is very savvy and clever. Ever wonder how they seem to know what you want even before you do?
With every new year, they are focused on the number one New Year’s resolution – losing weight and getting in shape. Don’t believe me?
As soon as you walk into the store, there is display after display of everything you could possibly buy with regards to healthier living. You don’t even have to think about it. They’ve made it easy for you. It’s right there for you to grab as soon as you enter the store. That’s their 10 second rule.
They want you to start filling your oversized cart within 10 seconds of walking into their store. And then they get you to stroll around taste testing everything under the sun. It’s my go-to store when I want to eat badly – one bite at a time. They provide you with lip-smacking tasty comfort foods that make you want to eat more and buy more. They have perfected their method of getting you to buy what they offer. It’s their version of home staging and merchandising. And it pays off!
Home staging and merchandising
If you would follow Costco’s lead when selling your home in Overland Park, you too would have better and faster results. It’s not about you, it’s about what your buyer wants…to see and feel. Have you no sense of “showtime?” When your house is for sale in Overland Park, it’s all about the Red Carpet moment – being the best you can be.
When selling a home in today’s market, you’ve got to be the best you can be every day of the process. You never know when “your buyer” is going to walk through your front door. And for you not to be ready is no excuse. You are sabotaging your chances of ever selling your house if you don’t do a little home staging and merchandising.
Can buyers look past the Christmas tree or the miscellaneous holiday decorations around the house when Christmas is over? Do they not see the Christmas wreath hanging on the front door? Fact is, all of these things are a distraction to the buyers. Does Costco still have their holiday stuff front and center?
Your buyers want to be able to see themselves living in your home, hanging out, inviting friends over, and cooking family dinners on Sunday night. But when they walk into a house that distracts them from their dreams, they back off a bit and don’t quite get the warm, fuzzy feeling they need to feel themselves living there. Instead of commenting on the awesome kitchen they could see themselves enjoying, they are busy talking about the Christmas decorations.
You see, buyers don’t understand that you still have a life to live in that house that’s on the market. Nor do they care. They are only thinking of themselves when it comes to buying their dream home. They are anxiously preoccupied with finding the perfect home to call their own. You must learn to think like those hopeful buyers so you can help them buy your house. Understand that they don’t know just how wonderful your house is. All they know is there are a lot of homes to choose from and you’ve got to step up to the plate and help them decide yours is the ONLY one for them.
So, the moral of the story is if you’ve still got Christmas lurking around your house, hurry up and pack up your stuff! You have one chance to make a first impression. Stop allowing your laziness to sabotage your chances of selling your home.
Want quick results when selling your home?
Start thinking home staging and merchandising. My average occupied house sells quickly in this market. Is there a reason? I like to think so. As one of my sellers, you will understand the only 3 things that matter when selling your house. And you will be excited and overjoyed when your house sells quickly.
Remember, the way you live in your home is your business and the way you sell your house is my business.
Recent seller, Jerry, told me after it was said and done that he didn’t believe me when I said their house would sell over the weekend. It sold in 2 days. Who’s a believer now??? And who was lucky to be already moved to Texas in order to spend the holidays with the entire family? Jerry! I love it when those results happen for my home sellers!
