Should I Remove My Dogs for a Showing?
If you want to sell your home faster, pets can be a dilemma when selling and showing it. In today’s market, with so much competition, it seems as though you need to jump through hoops to get your house sold. In my humblest opinion, I would see if they could visit grandma while you are trying to sell your house. Why?
Believe it or not, approximately 63% of the population owns a pet. The 37% that doesn’t own a pet oftentimes won’t buy a house that has one. I’ve heard various reasons over the years why someone wants to look at pet free homes. Most of the time it’s allergy related, the second reason is many people are afraid of dogs and won’t even go in the house if they think there a dog there. (I actually sold a house to a couple who wouldn’t go in because the dog was loose in the house – I called the listing agent and had the dog removed and my buyers ended up buying that house). The third reason I’ve heard is that people think the house will be dirty. So, as much as we love our pets and they are our family, not everyone feels the same way you do. It’s up to you.
