This is a perfect example of home staging distractions and why sellers need home staging when selling their home. It’s not the first time I’ve seen artificial flowers stuck in the ground. What does that say about your house and how it’s been maintained?

When I see things like this, I just want to turn around and get back in my car. Where else have you cut corners? As a buyer’s agent, I’m looking for any red flags. I want to tell my buyers, “Wait here, let me find the other reasons you shouldn’t buy this house!”

Why stage your home?

The purpose of home staging is to create an emotional connection between the buyers and your house. No one is going to buy your house until they feel an emotional attachment. Buyers must be able to feel themselves living there. This is not reality television – you’ve seen three houses – pick one.

Your home may be special to you but it’s not special to people looking at your home. They don’t have any kind of connection to it. That’s where the home staging comes into play. Home staging makes buyers want to live in your house. It draws them in emotionally. It makes them say, “We want to live here!” Your home staging distractions are preventing your home from selling!

Within 10 seconds of opening the front door, buyers know whether or not they are going to buy a house. It’s the power of first impressions. It’s the same as when you meet someone for the first time, you either click with them or you don’t.

Fake flowers are one of the many home staging distractions that cause your house not to sell – or at least not for top dollar. Selling your house is one thing but selling it for way over asking price is the best feeling in the world.

Remember, the way you live in your house and the way you sell your house are two different ways. If you want more money, you’ve got to do everything just right.
