The Kansas City Chiefs and Selling a Home in Overland Park – How are they Similar?
A couple of weeks ago, I attended Accelerent, a breakfast networking event. A man with the Chiefs Radio Network came up and sat down next to me. Before the program started, we talked about how much fun it was to be a winning team again and everything he said reminded me of selling a home. He said you’ve got to get the right players, in the right places with the right coaching and have a plan. That’s exactly what it takes to sell a home in today’s Overland Park real estate market.
Fortune Magazine stated a home sells for 3 reasons:
- The price
- The way it was or wasn’t staged
- The Realtor you choose
Which is most important? They all have to be in play but I always think the Realtor you choose will determine the results you get. Your Realtor will control what happens with the transaction. Your Realtor will help you determine a price that will sell your home. Your Realtor will help you stage your home and that’s where most of them fall short. A Realtor and home stager rolled into one? That’s a rarity. People ask me if I’m a Realtor who stages homes or a home stager who sells houses. I’m a Realtor who took a home staging course from the lady who created the concept back in the 1970’s. My gift is having the right eye to be able to visualize what a house could look like and can take any house from “Now to WOW!” I’m a Realtor who sees what a house could be so buyers get excited about it and buy it faster.
I think that’s the same vision Andy Reid has this year for The Kansas City Chiefs. He sees them as better than the competition and creates a plan for them to win the game. Selling your home in Overland Park is also a competition. It may not be as brutal as football but it can be taken very personally if your house doesn’t sell in a timely manner.
