Pantone Color of the Year for 2016
For the first time in Pantone’s history, there are two shades for color of the year for 2016. Rose Quartz and Serenity are a balance between a warmer rose and a cooler blue. Neither are my faves and I would never have them in my home. I’m curious how they will take off in popularity. I prefer bolder, earthier tones to make me happy in my surroundings.
What is Pantone? It’s a company, based in Carlstadt, New Jersey, known to be the world-renowned authority on color. It creates and matches colors for the home, beauty, and fashion industries. Since 2000, the Pantone Institute has been designating a Color of the Year to express in color what is taking place around the world.
Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, leads her team to look for influences around the world, pulling ideas from technology to entertainment and comes up with “what is taking place in the global zeitgeist.”
