The She Shed – What’s Not to Love?
Every woman deserves a place of her own to get away from the everyday hustle and bustle of life in general. While the guys have their man caves in the basement of many homes I see, every woman needs her space to get away as well. It’s called the she shed and it’s a state of mind and well deserved.
In my adventures this week with Darcie and Daniel, who are here from North Carolina to buy a house, I spotted this potential she shed or ma’am cave and wished I had one. It’s a current trend in many parts of the country and catching on like wildfire. While this one was obviously not being utilized, I thought about all the ways it could have been used. Plus, this house was on the market and I think had this one been fixed up even as a potting shed, it could have been a huge selling point and a great reason to buy this house. After all, what woman wouldn’t get emotional over a she shed in her backyard?
After thinking about it, I would use mine as my sanctuary. I would like it to be a place to meditate and unwind. It would be my quiet place after a long day of work. It would be decorated with vintage furniture, of course, and trendy and bright accessories. I already have the furniture I would use in it…an off white vintage French Provincial loveseat from the ‘40’s would be the start. I would either paint the walls yellow or bright purple. It would be a place to spend time reading, writing, reflecting, dreaming and napping.
For me, it’s the first step to my vintage camper…to see if small space living for me is even an option.
Unfortunately those of us living in Overland Park, Olathe or Leawood with homes associations would never be able to have one in the back yard. But if you could, what would yours be like? Please share if you love this décor trend.
